HI&RH Archduke Rudolph of Austria

fifth son of the Blessed Emperor Charles of Austria
is in the second row of adults, fourth from the left, below, just behind his eldest brother,

HI&RH Archduke Otto of Austria,
the eldest son and true successor of the blessed emperor.

Archduke Rudolph was ever a fine Catholic gentleman of the old school and all who knew him, loved him, and will be greatly saddened at his departure.

Ora pro eo et requiem aeternum dona ei, Domine. RIP.

God save and bless the ancient and noble House of Austria that once so benignly ruled the Christian Roman Empire, and its successor, Austria, of whom it was said:

Alii bella gerent, tu, felix Austria, nubes

"Others make war but Thou, O happy Austria, simply marry!"

because they did not gain their empire through conquest but by the peaceful means of marriage and family life and the blessing of the Church and of God

and for whom the acronym was devised

A.E.I.O.U.

Austriae est imperare orbi universo

"Austria's destiny is to rule the whole world"

and

Austria erit in orbe ultima

"The House of Austria shall be the last surviving in the world"

May this great House subsist until the end of time and may it lead the world through an example of love and fidelity to God, to the Church and to all mankind.

Let us pray, then, for the soul of the lately departed HI&RH Archduke Rudolph, 5th son of the Blessed Emperor Charles of Austria, and all the deceased members of the House of Austria.

who died on Saturday, 15 May 2010, in Ascensiontide,
at the age of 90 years.

He is survived by his consort, HIRH Archduchess Anna Gabriele, born Princess von Wrede, and by the children of his marriage to Xenia, Countess Tschernyschev-Besobrasow (who died in 1968), HI&RH Archduchess Maria-Anna and her consort, Prince Peter Galitzine, HI&RH Archduke Carl-Peter and his consort Alexandra, born Princess von Wrede, HI&RH Archduke Simeon and his consort Maria, born HRH Princess of the Two Sicilies, and the only daughter of his second marriage, HI&RH Archduchess Catharine and her consort Count Massimiliano Secco d’Aragona.

The Right Hon David Cameron MP, new British Prime Minister

Here is the speech of the new British Prime Minister, Rt Hon David Cameron MP.

He begins his speech recognising that it is the Queen who has invited him to form a government.

I think with Mr Cameron we might see a return to a little more respect for the great institutions of British society rather than the general contempt that seemed to be the chief characteristic of some in the out-going administration.

It is good, too, to see his attractive wife, Samantha, clearly pregnant with their next child - "Sam Cam with a new Pram" as she's been dubbed by some in the media.

I hope Mr Cameron means what he says about protecting the elderly and vulnerable and that he will reverse some of the recent trends that have been going in the opposite direction, particularly in modern British hospitals.

At 43, he will be the youngest PM since Lord Liverpool. And the first Old Etonian PM since Harold MacMillan.

Mr Cameron is also the Queen's 5th cousin twice removed through his descent from King William IV.

In addition, Mrs Cameron (born Samantha Sheffield) is through her father, Sir Reginald Sheffield Bt, 8th Baronet, descended no less than 3 times from King Charles II.

And, of course, the new PM, being a Cameron, comes from that famous Scottish Clan that was the mainstay of support for Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Cameron of Lochiel was the first Clan leader to come out for the Prince in 1745.
